WLD 131 GTAW (TIG) Plate (4 Credit Hours) Class Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 6 Clinical/Work Experience Hours: 0 Prerequisites: None Corequisites: None This course introduces the gas tungsten arc (TIG) welding process. Topics include correct selection of tungsten, polarity, gas, and proper filler rod with emphasis placed on safety, equipment setup, and welding techniques. Upon completion, students should be able to perform GTAW fillet and groove welds with various electrodes and filler materials.

- Demonstrate the use of GTAW electrode classification in compliance with AWS for the selection of electrodes.
- Perform a groove weld in accordance with AWS code.
- Perform a Fillet weld in accordance with AWS code.
- Demonstrate safe equipment setup, operation, and shut-down practices according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
