TRN 145 Adv Transp Electronics (3 Credit Hours) Class Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Clinical/Work Experience Hours: 0 Prerequisites: Take TRN 120 Corequisites: None This course covers advanced transportation electronic systems including programmable logic controllers, on-board data networks, telematics, high voltage systems, navigation, collision avoidance systems and electronic accessories. Topics include interpretation of wiring schematics, reprogramming PLC?s, diagnosing and testing data networks and other electronic concerns. Upon completion, students should be able to reprogram PLC?s, diagnose and test data networks and other electronic concerns, and work safely with high voltage systems.

- Given a transportation vehicle or equipment, diagnose and repair a fault in the controller area network (CAN) system by using the recommended lab or test equipment as outlined by the related service information.
- In a lab setting, demonstrate the proper use of electrical diagnostic equipment that apply to transportation vehicles and equipment.
- Given a transportation vehicle or equipment, diagnose and repair a fault in the electronic control system by using the recommended lab or test equipment as outlined by the related service information.
- Demonstrate appropriate diagnostic procedures for sensors, controllers, and circuits by using the recommended test equipment as outlined by service information.
- Correctly identify or describe complex transportation vehicle systems such as, collision avoidance, high intensity headlamps, navigation, and communication systems.
