MEC 180 Engineering Materials (3 Credit Hours) Class Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Clinical/Work Experience Hours: 0 Prerequisites: None Corequisites: None This course introduces the physical and mechanical properties of materials. Topics include materials testing, pre- and post-manufacturing processes, and material selection of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, composites, and non-conventional materials. Upon completion, students should be able to utilize basic material property tests and select appropriate materials for applications.

- Describe and/or conduct the physical procedures required to test these properties to compare and contrast them.
- Summarize the use of engineering materials and the impact in the industry.
