CHM 151 General Chemistry I (4 Credit Hours) Class Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Clinical/Work Experience Hours: 0 Prerequisites: Take CHM 092 CHM 121 CHM 130 or CHM 131 ; Take MAT 161 MAT 171 MAT 175 or MAT 271 ; Take RED 090 ENG 111 or DRE 098 ; Take ENG 090 ENG 111 or DRE 098 ; Corequisites: None This course covers fundamental principles and laws of chemistry. Topics include measurement, atomic and molecular structure, periodicity, chemical reactions, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, gas laws, and solutions. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of fundamental chemical laws and concepts as needed in CHM 152. This course has been identified as a Universal General Education Transfer Component (UGETC) course under the North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement. Students completing courses designated as UGETC, with a C or higher, will receive equivalent general education course credit for those courses at the receiving UNC institution.
