The Homeland Security Certificate program provides an in-depth study of homeland security. Topics include terrorism, threat assessment, intelligence analysis and security management, and critical incident management.This program prepares the student with knowledge about homeland security, a division of the Federal Government since 9/11. This program is an excellent primer for those interested in pursuing a career in homeland security.
Program Learning Outcomes
Graduates will:
- Identify and discuss the methods used in terrorists’ activities and complete a threat assessment for terrorists’ incidents.
- Identify managerial techniques legal issues, and response procedures to critical incidents.
- Demonstrate theoretical and applied models to understand and manage disasters, terrorism, and school/work place violence.
- Perform extensive security audits for private corporations and for local and state government, identifying weaknesses in their overall security programs.
- Identify intelligence policies, evaluate source information, implement intelligence techniques and analysis, identify threats, and apply ethical behaviors.
