Effective Fall 2020, this program will be discontinued.

The Office Administration-Legal Office curriculum prepares individuals for entry-level positions in legal or government-related offices and provides professional development for the currently employed.

Course work includes terminology, operational procedures, preparation and transcription of documents, computer software, and court-related functions as they relate to the legal office profession. Emphasis is placed on the development of accuracy, organizational skills, discretion, and professionalism.

Graduates should qualify for employment in corporate legal departments; private practices, including real estate and estate planning; and city, state, and federal government offices. Upon graduation, students may be eligible to sit for industry-recognized certification exams.

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates will:

  1. Demonstrate effective written communication techniques related to office administration.
  2. Demonstrate, identify and assess appropriate procedures for creating, formatting, and transcribing legal office documents.
  3. Demonstrate proper use of legal terminology and abbreviations used in legal offices and legal information management systems.

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) recognizes the Office Administration-Legal Office Associate in Applied Science Degree for accreditation.
