Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma (D40320)

The primary objective of the Diploma Program of the Mechanical Engineering Technology curriculum is to introduce students to the employment opportunities in mechanical engineering technology. The objective is fulfilled through the study and application of mechanical engineering technology courses.

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates will:

  1. Demonstrate an ability to apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mechanical engineering technology to narrowly defined engineering technology activities.
  2. Demonstrate an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to mechanical engineering technology problem requiring limited application of principles but extensive practical knowledge.
  3. Demonstrate an ability to conduct standard tests and measurements, and to analyze, and interpret mechanical engineering technology experiments.
  4. Demonstrate an ability to function effectively as a member of technical team.
  5. Demonstrate an ability to identify, analyze, and solve narrowly defined mechanical engineering technology problems.
  6. Demonstrate an ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and nontechnical Mechanical Engineering Technology environments and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
  7. Demonstrate an understanding of a need for and an ability to engage in self-directed continuing development.
  8. Demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to address professional and ethical responsibilities, including a respect for diversity.
  9. Demonstrate a commitment to quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
  10. Demonstrate application of program principles to specification of basic mechanical systems.
  11. Demonstrate application of program principles to installation of basic mechanical systems.
  12. Demonstrate application of program principles to fabrication of basic mechanical systems.
