MEC 267 Thermal Systems (3 Credit Hours) Class Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 2 Clinical/Work Experience Hours: 0 Prerequisites: PHY 131 or PHY 151 Corequisites: None This course introduces the fundamental laws of thermodynamics. Topics include work and energy, open and closed systems, and heat engines. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the laws and principles that apply to thermal power. Additional topics covered are properties of steam, use of steam tables, specific heat and entropy changes of ideal gases, and vapor power cycles in Camot, Otto, and Rankine.
