BIO 180 Biological Chemistry (3 Credit Hours) Class Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 2 Clinical/Work Experience Hours: 0 Prerequisites: ENG 090 and RED 090 Corequisites: None This course provides an introduction to basic biochemical processes in living systems. Topics include properties of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids, vitamins, and buffers, with emphasis on biosynthesis, degradation, function, and equilibrium. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of fundamental biochemical concepts. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
