The Medical Office Administration-Patient Services Representative diploma prepares individuals for entry level roles in a healthcare setting to assist patients with billing questions, scheduling, general inquiries, check-in/check-out, verifying insurance, and organizing and maintaining patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.

Course work will include medical terminology; information systems; office management; medical coding, billing and insurance; legal and ethical issues; and formatting and word processing. Students will learn administrative and support functions and develop skills applicable in medical environments.

Graduates should qualify for employment in medical and dental offices, hospitals, insurance companies, laboratories, medical supply companies, and other health-care related organizations. Upon graduation, students may be eligible to sit for industry-recognized certification exams.

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates will:

  1. Demonstrate decision-making skills in managing office operations, including data entry, communications, equipment maintenance, scheduling, inventory, and financial tasks in the medical setting.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word by creating, formatting, and managing professional documents in alignment with industry standards.
