The Healthcare Informatics track prepares individuals for employment as specialists in data management, data archiving/retrieval, and data design/support, for healthcare information systems.
Students learn about the field through multidisciplinary coursework including the study of terminology relating to healthcare, informatics, information technology, computer network/security, data warehousing, and archiving and retrieval of information.
Graduates should qualify for employment as database/data warehouse analysts, technical support professionals, and informatics technology professionals in the healthcare field.
Program Learning Outcomes
Graduates will:
- Demonstrate the proper use of terminology in relation to healthcare informatics.
- Identify legal, ethical, social, and security issues related to healthcare informatics.
- Demonstrate the ability to design, manage, and maintain database systems.
- Utilize effective communication techniques in a healthcare and information technology setting.
