SOC 242 Sociology of Deviance (3 Credit Hours) Class Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 Clinical/Work Experience Hours: 0 Prerequisites: RED 090 Corequisites: None This course provides an overview of deviant behavior and the processes involved in its definition, causation, prevention, control and treatment. Topics include theories of causation, social control, delinquency, victimization, criminality, the criminal justice system, punishment, rehabilitation, and restitution. Upon completion, students should be able to identify and analyze issues surrounding the nature and development of social responses to deviance. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement for transferability as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
