PHI 221 Western Philosophy II (3 Credit Hours) Class Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 Clinical/Work Experience Hours: 0 Prerequisites: ENG 111 Corequisites: None This course covers Western intellectual and philosophic thought from post-medievalists through recent thinkers. Emphasis is placed on such figures as Descartes, Spinoza, Leibnitz, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, Kant, Hegel, Marx, Mill, and representatives of pragmatism, logical positivism, and existentialism. Upon completion, students should be able to trace the development of leading ideas concerning knowledge, reality, science, society, and the limits of reason. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in humanities/fine arts.
