GEL 111 Introductory Geology (4 Credit Hours) Class Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 2 Clinical/Work Experience Hours: 0 Prerequisites: ENG 090 , RED 090 , and MAT 070 (or DMA 010 , DMA 020 , DMA 030 , DMA 040 , DMA 050 , and DMA 060 ) MAT 080 or MAT 151 or MAT 161 Corequisites: None This course introduces basic landforms and geological processes. Topics include rocks minerals, volcanoes, fluvial processes, geological history, plate tectonics, glaciers, and coastal dynamics. Upon completion, students should be able to describe basic geological processes that shape the earth. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in natural sciences/mathematics.
