MAT 175 Precalculus (4 Credit Hours) Class Hours: 4 Lab Hours: 0 Clinical/Work Experience Hours: 0 Prerequisites: MAT 161 and MAT 161A , or departmental approval Corequisites: MAT 175A This course provides an intense study of the topics which are fundamental to the study of calculus. Emphasis is placed on functions and their graphs with special attention to polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions, and analytic trigonometry. Upon completion, students should be able to solve practical problems and use appropriate models for analysis and prediction. Graphing calculators will be used to investigate the above topics as well as other topics. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in natural sciences/mathematics. This course is also available through the Virtual Learning Community (VLC).
