The Homeland Security Certificate program provides an in-depth study of homeland security. Topics include terrorism, threat assessment, intelligence analysis and security management, and critical incident management.This program prepares the student with knowledge about homeland security, a division of the Federal Government since 9/11. This program is an excellent primer for those interested in pursuing a career in homeland security.

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates will:

  1. Identify and discuss the methods used in terrorists’ activities and complete a threat assessment for terrorists’ incidents.
  2. Identify managerial techniques legal issues, and response procedures to critical incidents.
  3. Demonstrate theoretical and applied models to understand and manage disasters, terrorism, and school/work place violence.
  4. Perform extensive security audits for private corporations and for local and state government, identifying weaknesses in their overall security programs.
  5. Identify intelligence policies, evaluate source information, implement intelligence techniques and analysis, identify threats, and apply ethical behaviors.
