The primary objective of the Mechatronics Certificate Program of the Mechanical Engineering Technology curriculum is to provide students who will be in occupations involving robots, PLCs, and automatic control systems technology the opportunity to obtain a credential which is in vogue and could further their careers. The objective is fulfilled through the study and application of mechanical/electronics engineering technology courses. All courses in the certificate can be used in the Mechanical Engineering Technology Associate in Applied Science Degree program.

The Mechatronics option of the Mechanical Engineering Technology program offers students the opportunity to integrate electronics knowledge with their mechanical knowledge in a way which can be applied in a variety of job contexts. Mechatronics skills are increasingly desirable to the performance of duties in manufacturing, packaging, and equipment repair where a blend of both mechanical and electronics skills are preferred.

Program Learning Outcomes:

  1. Knowledge of and hands-on competence in the field of mechanical engineering technology in the areas of mechanical analysis and application of design concepts.
